NEW YORK, LOS ANGELES, LONDON and TOKYO — Award-winning singer-songwriter and producer Sidow Sobrino, The World’s No.1 Superstar®, adds another distinction to his music and film career as “Under Your Spell” wins Best Pop Music Video at the October 2026 Los Angeles Short Film Awards. The electronic dance-pop release expands the cinematic universe of his studio album Seminal, bringing his signature theatricality to the international festival circuit.
“I don’t create with validation from third parties in mind, but industry recognition certainly feels good,” Sobrino said. “What makes it more rewarding is seeing our fans share in these achievements. Their support keeps reaching new heights, and there’s always another mountain to climb.”
Organized under Best Film Awards, the competition features judges including Netflix series producer Kotaro Sakai; BAFTA-accredited director Ornella Hawthorn Gardez; Paolo Di Maio, whose credits include the Oscar-nominated City of God; and Maxine De Vere, associated with Sexy Beast and formerly of the BBC.
Other October winners include Quinn Wolverton, Best Feature Film for James; Mary Apick, Best Feature Documentary for Jewel of the Desert; Mitsuo Kurihara, Best Indie Feature Film for Shimo-Mizuno Meeting Hall; and Finise Avery, Best Short Film for Desperately Seeking Commitment. Edward B. Kessel earned Best Music Video for Not Today Billy, while Sobrino claimed the separate Best Pop Music Video honor.
Written, directed and performed by Sobrino, “Under Your Spell” combines a driving 145 BPM electronic dance-pop arrangement with supernatural storytelling. The music video casts him as The Supreme Sorcerer, whose mysterious séance determines the future of his empire. Richard Sidow-Sobrino, his husband and creative collaborator, co-stars as Balthazar, the Royal Butler.

“When we kiss and hug, we’re looking at two internationally recognized, award-winning individuals,” Richard said. “And we remind each other there’s more where that came from, my award-winning husband.”
Set in Miami Beach and filmed in Laguna Beach, California, the production joins Sobrino’s festival-recognized works Dangerous Joy, Rome-Antics, Bad Boy’s Wild Ride and Number One. Released worldwide through S & S Digital Records and The Orchard (Sony Music), “Under Your Spell” connects his recording career with an expanding catalog of cinematic music productions.
